The Webinar Vet’s Journey to Revolutionising Veterinary Education
The Webinar Vet, founded in 2010 by Anthony Chadwick, is a pioneering provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) lectures tailored for veterinary professionals globally.
They have carved out a unique niche by offering CPD content through online lectures, making veterinary education more accessible, convenient, and affordable.
Traditionally, CPD meetings were held in person, which often posed challenges due to travel times and busy schedules. Recognising these barriers, The Webinar Vet introduced a game-changing service: online CPD lectures. This innovation allowed veterinary professionals worldwide to access high-quality education from the comfort of their homes or clinics. As a result, The Webinar Vet rapidly expanded, amassing a vast library of over 2,300 hours of webinars, online events, and Q&A sessions, serving a global community of veterinary professionals.
The Problem
As The Webinar Vet’s community grew, so did the need for a more robust platform to deliver their CPD content. The existing infrastructure was struggling to keep up with the demand, and the team recognized the necessity to evolve their platform into a scalable, user-friendly solution that could handle increased traffic and offer enhanced features.
One of the primary challenges was ensuring that The Webinar Vet could continue providing valuable CPD content without compromising the quality of service. The team identified the need for a platform upgrade to support future growth, offer better functionality, and allow internal teams to manage and improve the system independently.
How We Helped
The Solution
The Webinar Vet partnered with The Curve to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that addressed these challenges. The solution was built using PHP and the Laravel framework, ensuring scalability and flexibility. Key features included a video player for CPD content, an admin panel for easy content management, and a payment processing system using Stripe.
The MVP development focused on meeting The Webinar Vet’s outlined requirements, including user-friendly access to lectures, enhanced admin capabilities, and future-proofing the platform to support ongoing innovation.
The Webinar Vet had outlined a list of requirements and features that should be implemented in the MVP development to ensure that the CPD lectures could be as beneficial as possible to the end user, whilst also providing new and unique features and functionality.
These features included video players for the CPD content to be accessed by The Webinar Vet’s customer base, admin panels that allow TWV team to manage the content on the website to ensure the CPD lectures and sessions are up to date and a payment processing system using “Stripe”.
When developing the MVP the web application a mixture of PHP and the Laravel framework was used throughout the development process in order to ensure the web application was built on a scalable platform that would be able to handle the increase in demand when users are attending the CPD online lectures whilst also providing TWV team with the tools they need to manage and add features in the future.
The Outcome
Results & Benefits
With the new platform in place, The Webinar Vet experienced significant improvements in operational efficiency and user satisfaction.
The enhanced admin panel, powered by Laravel Nova, provided the Webinar Vet team with greater control over resources, while the Brightcove integration improved video accessibility. The platform now supports in-site live webinars that feature QR codes for quick access to RCVS training evidence, as well as an improved and streamlined process for capturing viewership data to verify training progress.
These improvements and changes have not only reduced the strain on their team’s developers and marketers, but has also enabled The Webinar Vet to deliver a superior educational experience to its global community.
