Freedom Hotspot: Scaling a Guest WiFi Platform with Performance, Usability, and Future Growth in Mind

Freedom Hotspot vision is to deliver is a full stack Guest WiFi that delivers services that delivers value add services through new and existing WiFi networks. The company’s cloud based WiFi services are vendor neutral and adapts to a wide range of WiFi technologies.

Brexit brought up some challenges with the existing development partner and through an existing relationship in the UK was introduced to The Curve. Through several engagements and code review, it was agreed that Freedom Hotspot and The Curve would be a positive collaborative initiative and become part of an intelligence yet invisible team.

With a data driven approach being at the heart of Freedom Hotspot’s service delivery, key elements such as Radius and Time Series related DB tools were refactored and implemented to provide a stable and reliable environment.

The collaboration between the two companies has allowed Freedom Hotspot to enhance it’s cloud based Guest WiFi platform into a feature rich service offering for hospitality, leisure, tourism and beyond. This includes moving from OVH to AWS, which facilitates stability, scalability and reliability of the services that Freedom Hotspot offers to it’s clients all over, from the Highlands to the Falkland Islands.

Beyond backend improvements, The Curve also collaborated with Freedom Hotspot to refine the user experience for site owners, ensuring the platform surfaces the most relevant and actionable data to help them manage their WiFi environments more effectively.

Today, Freedom Hotspot runs on a high-performance, scalable platform that’s more robust, cost-effective, and easier for stakeholders to use. The Curve continues to provide bespoke development and support, enabling the platform to evolve in step with user needs and business goals.
